2013.Talk about the worst year ever.

My hubby, Nick, had gotten laid off from his job, my weight was at an all-time high, and we were both completely depressed. Things at home were obviously super stressful with my hubby having no luck in the job market. I was constantly eating anything I could get my hands on with no regard for how it might affect my body and attitude. At night after our daughter was asleep I would have a glass of wine which every time turned into a bottle. I was fueling my depression with food and alcohol. Communication slowly started breaking down. We were just going through the motions of daily life, anticipating the moment Faith was asleep so we could both check out of reality. This went on for months.

In late 2013, a friend of mine that belonged to No Limit had asked me if I wanted to join her for a free boot camp session. It was just a taste and kind of a tease since my hubby still was out of work and I obviously could not afford signing up. Regardless, I was hooked. I was welcomed immediately. Both the staff and the clientele were so helpful and kind. I never felt out of place or silly. Most gyms that I had tried out were full of people that were rude; especially the trainers at these other gyms. They were always so pushy and cocky. Not for a second did I ever feel pushed or insignificant at No Limit. In that short two week period I made friends and I was inspired by so many people. I promised myself that once Nick got settled in a new position, I was going to make a change. Not just for myself but for the welfare of my family. If I didn’t change everything I was doing I knew that it was only a matter of time before our home would fall apart. Things were that bad.

Finally in December 2013, just before Christmas, we were blessed with an opportunity. Nick was asked to start a new department at an established company as VP. Things were already looking great by January. I had stopped drinking and had changed my eating habits right after Christmas.  On January 9th, 2014 I marched into No Limit and signed up for a year. After 2 weeks of committing to 6 days a week, I was in a routine that I was determined to maintain. I even started tracking my food on an app that I had downloaded onto my phone. Plus the support I received from everyone at No Limit made it easy to make sure that I stayed on track. I had finally found a place where I felt I belonged and I was happy. This quickly rubbed off in our home. My hubby started working out every day when he got home from work and would assist in meal planning for weeknight dinners. Beginning this journey together really pushed all of the negativity and disconnect we had been feeling for months out the window. We had become much stronger as a couple than we had ever been before. We motivated each other to be better in every aspect of our lives. Our house had become a home again. Only better!

“It’s no secret how No Limit and all of the people there have changed my life.”

It’s no secret how No Limit and all of the people there have changed my life. Some would say I am a bit obsessed. I know that nearly all of my Facebook posts and Instagram pictures consist of gym posts, memes, and motivational quotes; but that is because No Limit saved my life. It’s not every day that you are handed a second chance at life.

As of today I have lost 3 dress sizes and 51 pounds and I just keep getting better 🙂
