Being active is something that has always been important to me. I grew up as an athlete and continue to play sports to this day. After high school, I went into the Marine Corps where they take “being physically fit” to a whole new level. While I was in the Marine Corps I started working out with the bodybuilding team and I learned so many different exercises and programs. Working out almost three times a day made me in the best shape of my life. The wear and tear of playing sports all my life and being a Marine took a toll on my knees. When I got out the Marine Corps I was diagnosed with Patellofemoral Knee Syndrome (PFPS) and developed arthritis in both of my knees. The grinding noise my knees make at my young age is pretty entertaining. I am now considered a disabled veteran.
I have been out of the Corps for 13 years. Up until about 6 months ago I was in a lot of pain. I would wake up in pain, go to sleep in pain, play sports in pain and I was just living with it. I then got sick because of all the aspirin I was taking that my doctor told me I was losing my stomach lining. I never thought of myself as being overweight but just thick and strong. I was still going to the gym, playing sports and working out almost every day but I wasn’t taking it seriously. I would eat whatever I wanted and thought to myself, as long as I work out I can eat this. Ya right!

Being part of the No Limit Family and working out with Jeff has changed my life, my lifestyle and has given me a whole new motivation to being in shape and living life! I have surrounded myself with amazing friends that have supported me with my eating habits and have helped me push my goals. Jeff is a passionate and knowledgeable coach who created workout programs around, and to alleviate, my knee pain and made sure to modify right then and there when needed to keep me lifting a lot of weight and getting strong. He does research on his own time to learn exercises I can do without pain. After 6 months of taking my workouts serious with Jeff and meal prepping, I no longer wake up in pain! I no longer go to sleep in pain! I no longer take aspirin every day! It’s amazing how carrying around that extra weight caused so much pain on my knees. Proudly I went from a size 10 at my biggest to a now proud size 4!
The pain comes back if I do something crazy or go for a long run. However, not having to think about it 24/7 and be a factor in my day to day life has made such a big impact. For the past 5 years I have participated in the Camp Pendleton Mud Run. This was the first year I was able to RUN it! I use to have to walk it! That is right, this year I RAN it, with no knee braces! That never would have happened without my friends motivating me and Jeff’s help.

I couldn’t have gotten where I am today without him or the help of my friends and No Limit Family. My advice to anyone thinking about joining our family would be… DIVE IN! Don’t just test the water. Come in and embrace it. Follow everything to do with working out on social media and surround yourself with people on the same mission as you. Make it so that your Instagram, Twitter and Facebook newsfeeds are completely filled with workouts, meal prepping ideas and No Limit coaches so you are constantly reminded of your mission! No Limit is where you are surrounded with family who will support you. I’m so excited to see how much stronger I can get with the help of my friends, family and my #NoLimitFamily!
