“Before No Limit, working out was sporadic at best (and not effective).”
Before No Limit, working out was sporadic at best (and not effective). Armed with a 24 Hour Fitness membership and zero knowledge, I tried to come up with workouts or piggy-back off of a friends routine – all with little to no results. I mentally felt like I was doing something, but my body was telling me “Nope! Try again!” Plus, I really didn’t like the gym environment. I always felt like I was being judged and didn’t have the discipline to get into a routine and stick to it.
Six months before my 35th birthday, I was having dinner with a friend (who pretty much lives at the gym). He made a comment that really sunk in. “James, as guys get closer to 40, the harder it is for us to take care of ourselves.” Later that night I asked a trusty friend, Google, to find a Personal Trainer in Placentia. No Limit was the top search result. The next day, I called and made an appointment to check it out. With apprehension, I arrived for my appointment and met with Sako. He coached me through a workout to see what I could do. After we wrapped up the workout, we chatted for a bit and talked about my personal goals and that was it – I knew I was in the right place. It was comfortable. The environment was not judgmental, and I left like I was in good hands. I started hour sessions, 3 days a week and supplemented it with my own running on the weekends.
“I’ve seen great changes in my mental and physical being.”
I’ve been with Bri the majority of my time at No Limit and the experience has been incredible. I’ve seen great changes in my mental and physical being. Increased confidence and have had a fun time doing it and have made a great friend along the way. My biggest fear of being judged while working out is a thing of the past.
“Since starting with No Limit over 3 years ago, I’ve ran 3 half marathons, 2 Camp Pendleton Mud Runs, and countless 5k and 10k fun runs.”
First, I overcame my discipline/routine issues. Knowing I have someone waiting for me is great incentive to get there and stick to it. Second, I’ve always wanted to run a half marathon. Since starting with No Limit over 3 years ago, I’ve ran 3 half marathons, 2 Camp Pendleton Mud Runs, and countless 5k and 10k fun runs. It’s an incredible feeling to meet a personal, physical goal. Finally, I feel great! I feel healthy! I never knew you could actually ‘feel’ healthy! And, I eat better than I ever have (I still enjoy food, don’t get me wrong – you only live once – but I do it in moderation).
“I feel great! I feel healthy! I never knew you could actually ‘feel’ healthy!”
Something extra I want to add and tell someone who’s on the fence of getting started.. Just do it. Overcome whatever mental block is stopping you. Do it for you. Do it to feel better about yourself. Do it for those you love – a healthy you is around longer to love.
