    Before No limit, I had to come up with a workout routine for myself. I would try to find workouts online and it just became repetitive and uninspired. I dreaded going to the gym because it was the same thing over and over. I wasted a lot of time waiting for equipment and machines to be open. It became very boring very quickly.

    “Growing up and through my early 20’s, I was always naturally “skinny”.”

    Growing up and through my early 20’s, I was always naturally “skinny”. I could eat whatever I wanted and it never affected me. I would work out on and off as I pleased, but was never consistent. My sister has worked out for as long as I can recall, and I remember making fun of her for doing it so much, as I never thought she really “needed to”. I would go to the gym off and on as I pleased and would work out to Beach Body videos at home, very inconsistently. Fast forward to 2011 when I had my first child. The weight came off quickly, but I was weak and had very little muscle. Finally in 2012, a friend asked me to go to No Limit with her on a Groupon deal. I’m a teacher, so I wasn’t excited about the idea of working out at 5:30am in order to be ready for the work day. But, I liked the idea of working out, and my LA fitness pass was clearly going to waste as I only went and used the elliptical maybe 2 times a week, so I decided to suck it up and go.

    Before coming to No Limit, I was bored with my workouts, unmotivated to consistently eat clean, and I was extremely tired. Most weekdays, I would come home from work and literally go straight to bed. Life was stressful and I was tired of being tired all the time. I needed energy and I needed to feel good again. I realized the only way I was going to be able to achieve my personal and career goals was to make the lifestyle change and get healthy!

    “I’ve belonged to a gym for over 25 years and always loved to workout”

    I am a 53 yr. old mom and retired Dental Hygienist.  I’ve belonged to a gym for over 25 years and always loved to work out.  A few yrs. ago, I developed Carpel Tunnel Syndrome which meant I had to retire from my profession and have 4 surgeries on my wrists and elbows. At the time, I belonged to another “Chain Gym” and I continued to work out as best I could.  I had a trainer at this gym, Alex Meza who worked with me and around my injuries.  I trained with Alex at this gym for over two years and kept in shape considering all the surgeries I had.  When my trainer moved to No Limit soon after and I knew I wanted to follow him.  I’ve been at No limit now for about 6 months and I have seen a drastic change.

    Before No Limit I had no workout routine at all.   Walking my dog was it .  I didn’t like to workout so I didn’t. I also have a sedentary job which is not a good thing.  I actually have joined gyms and have never gone.  I never had a weight problem growing up but was a softball player so I was always active.  I was eating (and still do)  eat too much food and portions that are larger than necessary .

    I joined No Limit in January of 2012, after a friend pressured me to sign up for a trial. I was definitely not excited about going. I didn’t have an exercise routine and felt overwhelmed anytime I set foot into a gym. I would walk in and go straight to the cardio machines. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I was always uncomfortable and worried that people were judging me. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed going to classes at No Limit. Everyone was welcoming and I was impressed by how helpful and present the trainers were during classes. Over time, I struggled to be consistent and stay motivated, but I also couldn’t bring myself to cancel my membership.

    I just recently celebrated my one year anniversary at No Limit.  Joining No Limit has been a life changing experience!

     

    I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, mainly because I love to eat.  A LOT.  And for most of my adult life, I haven’t had an active lifestyle.  Over the years, my weight has gone up and down, depending on how “good” I’ve been behaving.  Sometimes, I would go to the gym regularly and eat healthy.  Other times, I’d stop working out completely and pig out on junk food on a regular basis.  There was never any middle ground.  It was always all or nothing.

    When I was asked to share my story, I was very hesitant because I didn’t feel like my body is where it should be and there is still so much work for me to accomplish, but Melissa kept giving me the nudge so I finally sat down and wrote it out. I have been going to No Limit for about 4 years, and got in the best shape of my life before my wedding in 2014, but with my new marriage, laziness, and moving I just stopped working out and in 10 months all the hard work I put into training for a year diminished very quickly. I was one of those people that gained the weight back, loved cooking pastas and comfort food, and just made excuses as to why I wasn’t going to the gym anymore.

    “Before No Limit I felt like I had spaghetti arms and that I was not strong at all.”

    Since taking kickboxing at No Limit I have more confidence and a better understanding of self-defense. I have a difficult time eating enough throughout the day. Like I said I had spaghetti arms and I was very bony. But now that I have started to exercise I feel stronger and my appetite has increased. I am eating more food and choosing healthier options. I used to eat a lot of candy, but now I have started eating less candy and junk food. I crave healthier foods like carrots, salads, fish, and eggs to name a few.
