    Here are the results for our 2016 8 week transformation challenge. Over the past 8 weeks 91 clients participated in our 8 week challenge to see who can drop the most body fat while gaining lean muscle. A lot of the NL members did extremely well, some used this as a spark to bigger things and some had a complete transformation.

    Growing up I was always really active, I danced for about 15 years, I rode horses, rock climbed, surfed, played a little volleyball and always enjoyed doing physical types of activities. Although I was never that super skinny girl, I always had that more athletic build. In my later teen years I went through a few different health problems and had a number of surgeries and put on some weight but I never had been over 175lbs.

    “Before kids I never worked out. I hated it.”

    Before kids I never worked out. I hated it. I thought I didn’t need to. I was that girl that everyone hated because I didn’t have to work out. In reality, I was incredibly unhealthy, skinny-fat, and had terrible eating habits. I worked a lot and constantly forgot to eat. After kids I realized I had to do something. Not only for my body but for my mind. After my first set of twins I struggled with Post Partum Depression and really turned to food for comfort, and I was tired all the time. I hated that I couldn’t keep up with my kids. I became obsessed with working out but barely saw changes. I signed up with a trainer for a year at a chain gym and thought that would be my answer. I thought the accountability would help me. But my trainer didn’t care, outside of my 25 minute workout twice a week, there was no accountability as promised.

    “I was at my heaviest, not pregnant, weight. Over 200 pounds.”

    There were a lot of things that aligned up at the time I signed up for No Limit. I was at my heaviest, not pregnant, weight. Over 200 pounds. My doctor told me that she was concerned about my liver numbers. I told her how much I drank. Needless to say she wasn’t too happy with my answer. I guess its not ok to drink a bottle of wine by yourself. I also told her about my son who has CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and how he will need a transplant one day. I told her that I would be his kidney donor. She said they wouldn’t take me because I am not healthy. My friends and family know that drinking is my thing. 1st birthday party? Lets drink! Baby shower? Lets drink! The suns out! Lets drink! There was absolutely no way I would not be Coles’ donor. So I stopped drinking (ok 95% stopped drinking), changed my diet and exercise daily.

    I used to attend other boot camps prior to joining No Limit.  I attended an all ladies boot camp for about three years. During that time, I worked hard and lost a considerable amount of weight, but unfortunately I injured my back and had to stop attending due to doctor’s orders.  After going through months of physical therapy, I was given the “ok” to ease back into daily exercise.  I decided to try a boot camp with 30 minute long sessions.  It was great at the beginning, but after a year and a half, doubling and even tripling my daily sessions were not enough for me.

    Before I started at No Limit I didn’t work out that much. I use to go and walk around the park, or I would go to the gym but I didn’t have any idea of what I was doing.  When, I was at the gym I always did the same thing: warm-up on the treadmill, and then look at the other girls around and use the same machines and did an exercise that they were doing. In addition, I believe I was working out probably twice a month. I was never an active person.

    My journey at No Limit has been an absolutely incredible almost 4 year experience.  It began during the Summer of 2011 with a Groupon to try out the No Limit Bootcamp for 4 weeks. At that time the No Limit gym was still a dream of Sako’s.  Bootcamp was held at Eucalyptus Park in Anaheim Hills. I had done bootcamps in the past but they didn’t compare to the No Limit bootcamps, which at that time were taught by Mark and Tony. I hadn’t exercised in awhile and was definitely out of shape. I had done some personal training at 24Hr Fitness about 10 years prior but it was nothing compared to what I was about to encounter. When Sako opened the gym in October of 2011 I decided to sign up for bootcamp. I really wasn’t committed and didn’t go very often and it wasn’t until January of 2012 that I made a serious commitment to get into shape. Sako e-mailed out an opportunity to everyone to apply for his 90 day Body Transformation program through personal training and nutritional coaching. Those interested had to answer a series of questions as to why we really wanted to participate. Sako was looking for individuals that would be committed.  I didn’t know Sako at the time I applied and he confided in me, much later, that he wasn’t sure if I was up for the challenge and it was Mark and Tony that told him they thought I could do it. Yes! I was chosen to participate with two others. My real fitness journey began at No Limit on 1/16/12. This is when fitness got into my blood.

    B.NL. (Before No Limit): I was very unhappy with my body image; I would only take pictures from the neck on up and I had little to no self-control when it came to food. I could easily eat an ENTIRE box of Zingers (the raspberry Twinkie rolled in coconut kind), plus throw down a few handfuls of MMs while sipping on a Venti Starbucks frap all in one sitting. I could have probably out ate Adam Richman from Man vs. Food.

  • Placentia Gym Lists Tips For Fat Loss

    For everyone who’s goal is to drop body fat, inches or weight, here are some things you could be incorporating into your plan to accelerate your progress.

    NUTRITION
    -Dinner can only be the following
    CHOOSE ONE
    chicken breast, filet mignon or sirloin, lean turkey, fish, protein shake, egg whites
    Men-5-6 ounces Women-3-4 ounces
    Along with that have as many green veggies as you want.
    -Better snack choices, keep it simple
         -Quest bar (order from amazon.com)
         -Protein shake with 15 almonds (women 15-20 gym protein, men 30-40 gym protein)
         -Protein shake with small apple or 1/4 cup berries (women 15-20 gym protein, men 30-40 gym protein)
         -Hard boiled egg whites (women 2-4, men 6-8)
    -Drink green tea or black coffee before workouts or 1-2 times per day
    -Shoot for at least one gallon of water daily
    -Load up on green veggies whenever I can to keep me full
    -Avoid anything processed as much as possible!!! You should have to kill it or pick it to eat it
    -Carbs should be oatmeal, berries, apples, quinoa and grapefruit
    -Fats should consist of avocadoas, olive oil, coconut oil, omega 3, peanut butter or almond butter
     
    TRAINING
    -Cardio on empty stomach first thing in the morning followed by protein shake immediately after
    -Workout for at least 30 minutes no less than 5 days per week
    -Cut all your break times down and pick up heavier weight than you normally would
    -Add cardio 1-2 times a week on top of normal training routine. I HATE cardio but adding it will help reach that goal. Feel free to join me!
    -Instead of steady cardio do high intensity interval training.
